East Belgium & the Ardennes
East Belgium lies at the meeting point of Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The landscape alternates between the dense forests of the Ardennes and the moorlands of the High Fens. The area covers 5,000 hectares, making it the largest moorland in Belgium, and has been a protected natural reserve since 1957. It is the oldest natural reserve in Wallonia, known far beyond the country’s borders and considered the jewel of the German-Belgian High Fens-Eifel Nature Park. The Ardennes are known for deep valleys, flowing rivers and dense beech forests that fill with colour in autumn. Our region offers a very special kind of nature experience in East Belgium.
